John 3:6
That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. (John 3:6)
Born of the flesh.
That is, by natural birth (see ch. 1:13). The principle in the natural world, that all living things reproduce “after their kind” (Gen. 1:21), is equally true in the spiritual world. In the NT “flesh” and “Spirit” are opposites, and represent two antithetical and exclusive planes of existence. Compare Rom. 6:12-18.
