Ruth 2:1
And Naomi had a kinsman of her husband’s, a mighty man of wealth, of the family of Elimelech; and his name was Boaz. (Ruth 2:1)
Boaz.
Possibly meaning “fleetness.” Another possible derivation is from bo and ‘az, meaning “in him [is] strength.” This was the name of one of the pillars of Solomon’s temple (1 Kings 7:21). Boaz was apparently a man of wealth and considerable influence in the city of Bethlehem. He may have been the son of Rahab of Jericho (see on Matt. 1:5).
