Psalm 77:15
Thou hast with thine arm redeemed thy people, the sons of Jacob and Joseph. Selah. (Psalm 77:15)
Thine arm.
The arm is the symbol of strength (see Ex. 6:6; 15:16; Ps. 10:15;98:1).
Redeemed.
The miracle of Israel’s deliverance from Egypt is brought forth as a supreme example of God’s power to save and hence as a pledge of His continual power to save His people (see Ps. 78:12, 13; 106:21, 22; 114:1-5; etc.).
Jacob and Joseph.
Jacob is mentioned obviously because he was the father of the twelve tribes; Joseph, probably because he played so important a part in the affairs of Egypt.
Selah.
