“They themselves” (see on
Ps. 16:10). Ransom of an individual from death is the theme of the psalmist’s discussion.
Or, “costly.” It is beyond the power of wealth to save a man from death.
Wealth is insufficient, no matter how long it may be employed, to save one human being from the grave.
