Psalm 18:25
With the merciful thou wilt shew thyself merciful; with an upright man thou wilt shew thyself upright; (Psalm 18:25)
With the merciful.
Verses 25, 26 exhibit the characteristics of proverbs. They express the generalization that the eternal God deals with men according to their character. God’s “attitude towards men is and must be conditioned by their attitude toward Him” (Kirkpatrick). With God sin never goes unpunished (see Matt. 18:35).
