Proverbs 23:8
The morsel which thou hast eaten shalt thou vomit up, and lose thy sweet words. (Proverbs 23:8)
Lose thy sweet words.
There is probably a tinge of irony in this clause. The context supports the thought that you owe your host no pleasant words of thanks, since you have gained no real benefit, and he has given no genuine hospitality. Hence your friendly words are lost upon the covetous host.
