Heb. mithlahamim, occurring only here and in ch. 26:22. It is thought to come from a verb meaning “to swallow greedily”, and hence mithlahamim has been assigned the meaning “sweet morsels”. The clause would thus express the idea that slander is swallowed with avidity and preserved in the memory for later use.
