And when Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, saw it, he rose up from among the congregation, and took a javelin in his hand; (Numbers 25:7)
Took a javelin.
 This word is always translated “spear” or “spears” elsewhere in the OT, except once as “lancets” (1 Kings 18:28) and once as “buckler” (1 Chron. 12:8).
He rose up.

Phinehas.
 See Ex. 6:25. He was apparently the only son of Eleazar, and would succeed his father in the office of high priest (1 Chron. 9:20).
