Expressing a thought independent of those that precede and that follow. Mary‘s statement reflects the awe and reverence felt by the Jews for the sacred name of God, Yahweh (see on Ex. 3:14, 15; cf. Vol. I, pp. 171-173). Later, the Christians esteemed the name of Jesus with similar reverence, though without fear of using it, albeit respectfully (see Acts 3:6; 4:10; etc.).
