Leviticus 16:14
And he shall take of the blood of the bullock, and sprinkle it with his finger upon the mercy seat eastward; and before the mercy seat shall he sprinkle of the blood with his finger seven times. (Leviticus 16:14)
The blood of the bullock.
Leaving the censer in the most holy place, Aaron returned to the court for the blood of the bullock. The sprinkling of its blood, first upon the mercy seat, and then seven times before it, ended his work in the holiest with its blood. He had thus made atonement “for himself, and for his household” (v. 17). Free from sin, he now became a fit representative of Christ, the sinless One, and might therefore mediate on behalf of others.
