And the priest shall dip his right finger in the oil that is in his left hand, and shall sprinkle of the oil with his finger seven times before the Lord: (Leviticus 14:16)
This part of the ceremony is peculiar to the rites of purification for leprosy. In no other case is oil ever sprinkled. Blood and oil are used together (ch. 8:30), but not oil alone.
