Deuteronomy 28:26
And thy carcase shall be meat unto all fowls of the air, and unto the beasts of the earth, and no man shall fray them away. (Deuteronomy 28:26)
Fray them.
Literally, “frighten them away,” that is, the beasts and birds of prey that would devour their dead bodies.
Thy carcase.
A threat repeated in Jer. 7:33 (see Jer. 15:3; 16:4; 19:7; 34:20). The Jews were particularly sensitive with respect to their dead lying unburied. Such exposure was regarded as the utmost in punishment (see Jer. 22:19; 36:30; cf. Ps. 79:2, 3).
