The dogs of Jezreel had made for Jezebel a living tomb. The body of the queen had become food for the half-wild dogs of the city. The prophecy of Elijah had been fulfilled (1 Kings 21:23), justice had been satisfied, and Naboth had been avenged for Jezebel’s crime against him.
