This was in harmony with God’s promise to Solomon (1 Kings 3:13) and to Israel on condition of faithfulness (Deut. 28:1, 13). At the time of Solomon such empires as Assyria, Babylon, and Egypt were in low estate, and it was thus literally true that Solomon’s kingdom ranked first in wisdom, wealth, and splendor.
