1 Chronicles 11:13
He was with David at Pasdammim, and there the Philistines were gathered together to battle, where was a parcel of ground full of barley; and the people fled from before the Philistines. (1 Chronicles 11:13)
Parcel of ground.
If the parcel of ground here mentioned is that of 2 Sam. 23:11, it does not pertain to Pas-dammim, where David engaged in battle with the Philistines, but to a place not mentioned in this verse, namely, a plot of ground where Shammah had an encounter with the Philistines (see on 2 Sam. 23:11). The incompleteness of the narrative explains the absence of Shammah’s name from the list. It would appear that the encounter in question resulted from Shammah’s vigorous defense of a field from which the Philistines were endeavoring to carry away the crop.
To battle.
A more complete account of the incident appears in 2 Sam. 23:9-12; that is, if the writer is describing the same event.
