데이비스는 이렇게 기록하였다. “우리는 예수께서 모든 점에서 당신의 형제들(거듭나고 성화된)과 같이 되셨다고 히브리서 2장 17절에서 읽는다. 나는 이런 연결고리를 이루기 위한 구문상의 내용에 어떤 해를 입히려는 것이 아니라고 제의하였다. 이것은 최초에 어떤 구절 가운데 사용된 한 단어에 주어진 진술이거나, 포함된 의미가 그 구절을 통해 철저히 유지된 상식상의 가정인 것이다. 만일 그렇지 않다면, 이와 같이 제시하지 않았을 것이다.” (298.2)

 “전술한 바 빛으로부터 볼 때, 우리는 거듭난 사람들과 같지만 거듭나지 않는 자들과는 같지 않은 그리스도의 성육신의 성질에 관하여 어떤 중요한 점이 있다고 결론지을 수 있다. 나는 이런 견해로 <미니스트리>지에서 토의된 쌍방 간의 개념의 차이들을 함께 취할 수 있음을 제의하는 바이다.”¹⁰⁷ 데비스는 결론짓기를 “예수께서는 온전히 인성을 지니신 반면 또한 하나님이시면서 사람이 되셨다. 이와 같이 육신을 소유하고 우리처럼 시험으로 슬픔에 차고 죄를 지을 가능성을 지닌 인간의 연약성을 지니셨다. 그러나 그런 상태 가운데서 타락하지 않은 생각(mind)과 마음(heart)과 뜻(will)을 가지고 하늘 아버지께 온전하고도 끊임없이 일치하셨고 또 성령에게 지시를 받으셨다. 이런 방법으로 그분은 타락하지 않은 아담과 같이 되셨다. 그리고 내가 믿는 것은 거듭난 자들과 예수님을 공통된 입장에서 만나게 된다는 것이다.”¹⁰⁸ (298.3)

 이런 해석은 우리 마음을 감동시킨다. 아무튼 히브리서 2장에서 ‘형제들’이라는 말이 거듭난 자들에게 곧바로 적용되는지 아닌지에 대한 의문점을 지닌다. (298.4)

 더욱 더 예수님과 ‘그의 형제들’ 사이에 비교가 영적인 비교가 아니라 그리스도와 함께 나누는 ‘혈과 육’의 자연적 모습을 강조하는 의미가 있다. “다 하나에서”(히 2:11)라고 언급된 “자녀들”(히 2:14)은 예수께서 죽음의 고난받으신 모든 자를 의미한다. “그러므로 형제라 부르기를 부끄러워 아니하시고”(히 2:11)라고 언급되었다. (299.1)
