Titus 1:2
In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began; (Titus 1:2)
Before the world began.
Eternal life.
Gr. zōē aiōnios (see on John 3:16). For zōē, “life,” see on John 1:4, and for aiōnios, “eternal,” or Matt. 25:41. Eternal life is the goal of Paul’s ministry and the objective of the true Christian, who builds his life on the principles of “the truth” (Titus 1:1).
Cannot lie.
See on 2 Cor. 1:20; 2 Tim. 2:13. The Christian revelation is as reliable as the unchangeable nature of God.
