Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads. (Revelation 7:3)
In vision John probably saw an actual mark affixed. The mark stands for character qualification (see on
Eze. 9:4; cf.
2 Tim. 2:19).
Gr. douloi, “slaves.” Those who are sealed are God’s slaves, and the seal upon them is His attestation that they are indeed His own.
