Numbers 36:1
And the chief fathers of the families of the children of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, of the families of the sons of Joseph, came near, and spake before Moses, and before the princes, the chief fathers of the children of Israel: (Numbers 36:1)
The children of Gilead.
These people represented the other half of the tribe of Manasseh, who had not been settled on the east side of Jordan, in the land of Gilead, but who were to receive their inheritance in the land of Canaan.
Spake before Moses.
This was a meeting with Moses in a large assembly (see ch. 27:2).
