Leviticus 22:10
There shall no stranger eat of the holy thing: a sojourner of the priest, or an hired servant, shall not eat of the holy thing. (Leviticus 22:10)
The holy thing.
That is, the daily food of the priest and his family, most of which came from the offerings of the people. Hebrew bondservants and their families were reckoned as belonging to the family and could therefore eat of the “holy things.” A married daughter living with her husband was counted as belonging to another family, and hence might not eat of them.
