And he shall bring his trespass offering unto the Lord, unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, even a ram for a trespass offering. (Leviticus 19:21)
In addition to whatever punishment was deemed appropriate, the man was to present his trespass offering (see on ch. 7:1). In the first he paid his debt to society; in the second he was reconciled to God. Women were not expected to present such offerings.
