Leviticus 12:3
And in the eighth day the flesh of his foreskin shall be circumcised. (Leviticus 12:3)
Circumcised.
This was in recognition of the covenant relationship, and brought the child symbolically under the bond of the covenant. This rite was first practiced in the case of Isaac (Gen. 17:10, 11; 21:4), the son of the promise (Gal. 4:23), in token of the fulfillment of the covenant promise concerning his birth.
