Joshua 24:32
And the bones of Joseph, which the children of Israel brought up out of Egypt, buried they in Shechem, in a parcel of ground which Jacob bought of the sons of Hamor the father of Shechem for an hundred pieces of silver: and it became the inheritance of the children of Joseph. (Joshua 24:32)
Bones of Joseph.
The act of burying Joseph’s bones, though here related after the account of the death of Joshua, probably took place before it, at the time of the gathering at Shechem described in this chapter. There is nothing in the original to prevent the verb from being translated “had buried,” thus implying that the burial had taken place some time before.
