A noise shall come even to the ends of the earth; for the Lord hath a controversy with the nations, he will plead with all flesh; he will give them that are wicked to the sword, saith the Lord. (Jeremiah 25:31)

The symbol of destruction by war. In the final conflict of nations the wicked will perish by various means (see GC 657).
A controversy.
Heb. rib, “strife,” or “a case at law.” The picture is that of God sitting in judgment upon the wicked nations.
