Genesis 47:6
The land of Egypt is before thee; in the best of the land make thy father and brethren to dwell; in the land of Goshen let them dwell: and if thou knowest any men of activity among them, then make them rulers over my cattle. (Genesis 47:6)
The land of Egypt is before thee.
They had come to sojourn in the land (not to settle there) because there was no pasture for their flocks in the land of Canaan, owing to the drought. The king then authorized Joseph to give his father and brothers a dwelling in the best part of the country, the land of Goshen.
