As for the likeness of the living creatures, their appearance was like burning coals of fire, and like the appearance of lamps: it went up and down among the living creatures; and the fire was bright, and out of the fire went forth lightning. (Ezekiel 1:13)
A further reference to the fire mentioned in v. 4. Ezekiel is now able to observe at closer range. He attempts to describe in human language the interesting spectacle of vibrating lamps and emanating flashes that were continuously active among the creatures.
