Exodus 28:38
And it shall be upon Aaron’s forehead, that Aaron may bear the iniquity of the holy things, which the children of Israel shall hallow in all their holy gifts; and it shall be always upon his forehead, that they may be accepted before the Lord. (Exodus 28:38)
Upon Aaron’s forehead.
This inscription, which was “always” to be on the forehead of the high priest as he ministered, reminded him of his solemn responsibility as the representative of the people. As such, he was clothed, as it were, with the official “holiness” engraved upon the plate. He was a type and representative of Him who was made “sin for us, who knew no sin” (2 Cor. 5:21), and through whom alone real atonement can be made before the Father.
