2 Samuel 4:6
And they came thither into the midst of the house, as though they would have fetched wheat; and they smote him under the fifth rib: and Rechab and Baanah his brother escaped. (2 Samuel 4:6)
Fetched wheat.
This part of the narrative is rendered variously in the versions. The LXX reads, “And, behold, the porter [feminine] of the house winnowed wheat, and she slumbered and slept.” The Vulgate also lays the blame on the woman who kept the door. The Syriac says nothing about wheat.
