2 Samuel 3:32
And they buried Abner in Hebron: and the king lifted up his voice, and wept at the grave of Abner; and all the people wept. (2 Samuel 3:32)
In Hebron.
This was another token of honor and respect, since Hebron was the capital of Judah. Abner’s home in Benjamin would have been the natural burial place, but to the buried in the royal city of Hebron would be more honorable. By ordering the burial of Abner at his capital David would help to convince the nation that he harbored no ill feelings against the slain general and that he chose to honor his memory.
