2 Samuel 2:11
And the time that David was king in Hebron over the house of Judah was seven years and six months. (2 Samuel 2:11)
Seven years and six months.
This statement seems to be parenthetically introduced to give the total length of David’s reign at Hebron. Since the length of Ish-bosheth’s reign is not known (see on v. 10), we do not know the interval between Ish-bosheth’s death and the time that David was anointed king “over Israel” (ch. 5:3).
