2 Kings 24:12
And Jehoiachin the king of Judah went out to the king of Babylon, he, and his mother, and his servants, and his princes, and his officers: and the king of Babylon took him in the eighth year of his reign. (2 Kings 24:12)
Eighth year.
That is, the eighth year of Nebuchadnezzar, following Jewish reckoning, according to which it had begun in the autumn of 598 B.C. It was still the 7th year according to Babylonian reckoning (see p. 161n).
The Three Campaigns of Nebuchadnezzar
Went out.
In despair Jehoiachin surrendered. The date according to the Babylonian Chronicle was Adar 2, year 7 of Nebuchadnezzar’s reign in the Babylonian calendar (approximately March 16, 597 B.C.).
