2 Kings 18:18
And when they had called to the king, there came out to them Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, which was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah the son of Asaph the recorder. (2 Kings 18:18)
Shebna.
 See Isa. 22:15-19.
Eliakim.
Eliakim had been elevated to this important position after the demotion of Shebna, in fulfillment of Isaiah’s prediction (Isa. 22:20-24). Some, however, think the Shebna of Isa. 22 was not the person so named here.
Joah.
There is no other record of this man. The scribe, or “recorder,” was one of the high officers of the realm, who issued the king’s edicts, took care of his correspondence, and probably had charge of the royal purse (see ch. 12:10).
