2 Kings 17:31
And the Avites made Nibhaz and Tartak, and the Sepharvites burnt their children in fire to Adrammelech and Anammelech, the gods of Sepharvaim. (2 Kings 17:31)
Anammelech.
Possibly, “Anu is king.” Anu was the famous sky god of early Mesopotamia.
Adrammelech.
A god worshiped in northwestern Mesopotamia under the name of Adad-milki, “Hadad is king,” a form of the Syrian god Hadad.
Burnt their children.
Similar to the local worship of Molech.
Tartak.
A Syrian god.
Nibhaz.
This is probably an idol worshiped by the Avites, but its identity is not positively known. By some it has been identified with an Elamite divinity, Ibna-Haza, by others with the Mandaic Nebaz, the lord of darkness.
