Among the other acts of Ahaz were the erection of altars on the roof of the palace (ch. 23:12), apparently designed for the worship of the host of heaven; the cutting in pieces of the sacred vessels of the Temple; the shutting up of the Temple itself and the termination of its services (2 Chron. 28:24; 29:3, 7).
