Moreover the brasen altar, that Bezaleel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, had made, he put before the tabernacle of the Lord: and Solomon and the congregation sought unto it. (2 Chronicles 1:5)
This may also be translated, “sought unto him.” In the Hebrew the antecedent of “it” may be either “altar” or “Lord.” The LXX supports the reading of the KJV.

Heb. sam. A number of Hebrew manuscripts read sham, an adverb meaning “there.” If this reading is adopted the clause becomes, “was there before the tabernacle.” The LXX agrees.
