1 Kings 8:20
And the Lord hath performed his word that he spake, and I am risen up in the room of David my father, and sit on the throne of Israel, as the Lord promised, and have built an house for the name of the Lord God of Israel. (1 Kings 8:20)
Performed his word.
It was God’s will that Solomon rather than David should build the house of the Lord, and His purpose was carried out. Man can make his own lot and that of others unpleasant by stubbornly setting himself against the will of God. It is cooperation with God that brings the greatest progress in the work of God. Solomon, in building the Temple in harmony with the divine will, was placing himself in the channel of heavenly blessing. It was then that the Lord performed His word. Solomon was the instrument, but God was the moving power.
