Psalm 4

1 Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness: thou hast enlarged me when I was in distress; have mercy upon me, and hear my prayer. 16 I
2 O ye sons of men, how long will ye turn my glory into shame? how long will ye love vanity, and seek after leasing? Selah. 6 I
3 But know that the Lord hath set apart him that is godly for himself: the Lord will hear when I call unto him. 12 I
4 Stand in awe, and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah. 13 I
5 Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the Lord. 29 I
6 There be many that say, Who will shew us any good? Lord, lift thou up the light of thy countenance upon us. 6 I
7 Thou hast put gladness in my heart, more than in the time that their corn and their wine increased. 10 I
8 I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, Lord, only makest me dwell in safety. 20 I

Genesis 5

1 This is the book of the generations of Adam. In the day that God created man, in the likeness of God made he him; 10 I
2 Male and female created he them; and blessed them, and called their name Adam, in the day when they were created. 12 I
3 And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat a son in his own likeness, and after his image; and called his name Seth: 10 I
4 And the days of Adam after he had begotten Seth were eight hundred years: and he begat sons and daughters: 10 I
5 And all the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years: and he died. 10 I
6 And Seth lived an hundred and five years, and begat Enos: 10 I
7 And Seth lived after he begat Enos eight hundred and seven years, and begat sons and daughters: 10 I

13 And Cainan lived after he begat Mahalaleel eight hundred and forty years, and begat sons and daughters: 10 I
14 And all the days of Cainan were nine hundred and ten years: and he died. 10 I
15 And Mahalaleel lived sixty and five years, and begat Jared: 10 I
16 And Mahalaleel lived after he begat Jared eight hundred and thirty years, and begat sons and daughters: 10 I
17 And all the days of Mahalaleel were eight hundred ninety and five years: and he died. 10 I
18 And Jared lived an hundred sixty and two years, and he begat Enoch: 10 I
19 And Jared lived after he begat Enoch eight hundred years, and begat sons and daughters: 10 I
20 And all the days of Jared were nine hundred sixty and two years: and he died. 10 I
21 And Enoch lived sixty and five years, and begat Methuselah: 10 I
22 And Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah three hundred years, and begat sons and daughters: 10 I
23 And all the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty and five years: 10 I
24 And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him. 14 I
25 And Methuselah lived an hundred eighty and seven years, and begat Lamech. 10 I
26 And Methuselah lived after he begat Lamech seven hundred eighty and two years, and begat sons and daughters: 10 I
27 And all the days of Methuselah were nine hundred sixty and nine years: and he died. 10 I
28 And Lamech lived an hundred eighty and two years, and begat a son: 10 I
29 And he called his name Noah, saying, This same shall comfort us concerning our work and toil of our hands, because of the ground which the Lord hath cursed. 11 I
30 And Lamech lived after he begat Noah five hundred ninety and five years, and begat sons and daughters: 10 I
31 And all the days of Lamech were seven hundred seventy and seven years: and he died. 9 I
32 And Noah was five hundred years old: and Noah begat Shem, Ham, and Japheth. 10 I

1 Chronicles 5

1 Now the sons of Reuben the firstborn of Israel, (for he was the firstborn; but forasmuch as he defiled his father’s bed, his birthright was given unto the sons of Joseph the son of Israel: and the genealogy is not to be reckoned after the birthright.
2 For Judah prevailed above his brethren, and of him came the chief ruler; but the birthright was Joseph’s:)
3 The sons, I say, of Reuben the firstborn of Israel were, Hanoch, and Pallu, Hezron, and Carmi.
4 The sons of Joel; Shemaiah his son, Gog his son, Shimei his son,
5 Micah his son, Reaia his son, Baal his son,
6 Beerah his son, whom Tilgathpilneser king of Assyria carried away captive: he was prince of the Reubenites.
7 And his brethren by their families, when the genealogy of their generations was reckoned, were the chief, Jeiel, and Zechariah,
8 And Bela the son of Azaz, the son of Shema, the son of Joel, who dwelt in Aroer, even unto Nebo and Baalmeon:
9 And eastward he inhabited unto the entering in of the wilderness from the river Euphrates: because their cattle were multiplied in the land of Gilead.
10 And in the days of Saul they made war with the Hagarites, who fell by their hand: and they dwelt in their tents throughout all the east land of Gilead.
11 And the children of Gad dwelt over against them, in the land of Bashan unto Salcah:
12 Joel the chief, and Shapham the next, and Jaanai, and Shaphat in Bashan.
13 And their brethren of the house of their fathers were, Michael, and Meshullam, and Sheba, and Jorai, and Jachan, and Zia, and Heber, seven.
14 These are the children of Abihail the son of Huri, the son of Jaroah, the son of Gilead, the son of Michael, the son of Jeshishai, the son of Jahdo, the son of Buz;
15 Ahi the son of Abdiel, the son of Guni, chief of the house of their fathers.
16 And they dwelt in Gilead in Bashan, and in her towns, and in all the suburbs of Sharon, upon their borders.
17 All these were reckoned by genealogies in the days of Jotham king of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam king of Israel.
18 The sons of Reuben, and the Gadites, and half the tribe of Manasseh, of valiant men, men able to bear buckler and sword, and to shoot with bow, and skilful in war, were four and forty thousand seven hundred and threescore, that went out to the war.
19 And they made war with the Hagarites, with Jetur, and Nephish, and Nodab.
20 And they were helped against them, and the Hagarites were delivered into their hand, and all that were with them: for they cried to God in the battle, and he was intreated of them; because they put their trust in him.
21 And they took away their cattle; of their camels fifty thousand, and of sheep two hundred and fifty thousand, and of asses two thousand, and of men an hundred thousand.
22 For there fell down many slain, because the war was of God. And they dwelt in their steads until the captivity.
23 And the children of the half tribe of Manasseh dwelt in the land: they increased from Bashan unto Baalhermon and Senir, and unto mount Hermon.
24 And these were the heads of the house of their fathers, even Epher, and Ishi, and Eliel, and Azriel, and Jeremiah, and Hodaviah, and Jahdiel, mighty men of valour, famous men, and heads of the house of their fathers.
25 And they transgressed against the God of their fathers, and went a whoring after the gods of the people of the land, whom God destroyed before them.
26 And the God of Israel stirred up the spirit of Pul king of Assyria, and the spirit of Tilgathpilneser king of Assyria, and he carried them away, even the Reubenites, and the Gadites, and the half tribe of Manasseh, and brought them unto Halah, and Habor, and Hara, and to the river Gozan, unto this day.

Luke 2

22 And when the days of her purification according to the law of Moses were accomplished, they brought him to Jerusalem, to present him to the Lord;
23 (As it is written in the law of the Lord, Every male that openeth the womb shall be called holy to the Lord;)
24 And to offer a sacrifice according to that which is said in the law of the Lord, A pair of turtledoves, or two young pigeons.
25 And, behold, there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon; and the same man was just and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel: and the Holy Ghost was upon him. 4 I
26 And it was revealed unto him by the Holy Ghost, that he should not see death, before he had seen the Lord’s Christ. 4 I
27 And he came by the Spirit into the temple: and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him after the custom of the law, 2 I
28 Then took he him up in his arms, and blessed God, and said, 4 I
29 Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace, according to thy word: 4 I
30 For mine eyes have seen thy salvation, 4 I
31 Which thou hast prepared before the face of all people; 4 I
32 A light to lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel. 4 I
33 And Joseph and his mother marvelled at those things which were spoken of him.
34 And Simeon blessed them, and said unto Mary his mother, Behold, this child is set for the fall and rising again of many in Israel; and for a sign which shall be spoken against; 4 I
35 (Yea, a sword shall pierce through thy own soul also,) that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed. 4 I
36 And there was one Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Aser: she was of a great age, and had lived with an husband seven years from her virginity;
37 And she was a widow of about fourscore and four years, which departed not from the temple, but served God with fastings and prayers night and day.
38 And she coming in that instant gave thanks likewise unto the Lord, and spake of him to all them that looked for redemption in Jerusalem.
39 And when they had performed all things according to the law of the Lord, they returned into Galilee, to their own city Nazareth.
40 And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him. 6 I
41 Now his parents went to Jerusalem every year at the feast of the passover.
42 And when he was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem after the custom of the feast.
43 And when they had fulfilled the days, as they returned, the child Jesus tarried behind in Jerusalem; and Joseph and his mother knew not of it.
44 But they, supposing him to have been in the company, went a day’s journey; and they sought him among their kinsfolk and acquaintance.
45 And when they found him not, they turned back again to Jerusalem, seeking him.
46 And it came to pass, that after three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the doctors, both hearing them, and asking them questions.
47 And all that heard him were astonished at his understanding and answers.
48 And when they saw him, they were amazed: and his mother said unto him, Son, why hast thou thus dealt with us? behold, thy father and I have sought thee sorrowing.
49 And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father’s business?
50 And they understood not the saying which he spake unto them.
51 And he went down with them, and came to Nazareth, and was subject unto them: but his mother kept all these sayings in her heart.
52 And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man. 9 I
