Psalm 31

1 In thee, O Lord, do I put my trust; let me never be ashamed: deliver me in thy righteousness. 13 I
2 Bow down thine ear to me; deliver me speedily: be thou my strong rock, for an house of defence to save me. 4 I
3 For thou art my rock and my fortress; therefore for thy name’s sake lead me, and guide me. 6 I
4 Pull me out of the net that they have laid privily for me: for thou art my strength. 2 I
5 Into thine hand I commit my spirit: thou hast redeemed me, O Lord God of truth. 13 I
6 I have hated them that regard lying vanities: but I trust in the Lord. 2 I
7 I will be glad and rejoice in thy mercy: for thou hast considered my trouble; thou hast known my soul in adversities; 4 I
8 And hast not shut me up into the hand of the enemy: thou hast set my feet in a large room. 4 I
9 Have mercy upon me, O Lord, for I am in trouble: mine eye is consumed with grief, yea, my soul and my belly. 2 I
10 For my life is spent with grief, and my years with sighing: my strength faileth because of mine iniquity, and my bones are consumed. 2 I
11 I was a reproach among all mine enemies, but especially among my neighbours, and a fear to mine acquaintance: they that did see me without fled from me.
12 I am forgotten as a dead man out of mind: I am like a broken vessel.
13 For I have heard the slander of many: fear was on every side: while they took counsel together against me, they devised to take away my life.
14 But I trusted in thee, O Lord: I said, Thou art my God.
15 My times are in thy hand: deliver me from the hand of mine enemies, and from them that persecute me. 2 I
16 Make thy face to shine upon thy servant: save me for thy mercies’ sake. 4 I
17 Let me not be ashamed, O Lord; for I have called upon thee: let the wicked be ashamed, and let them be silent in the grave.
18 Let the lying lips be put to silence; which speak grievous things proudly and contemptuously against the righteous.
19 Oh how great is thy goodness, which thou hast laid up for them that fear thee; which thou hast wrought for them that trust in thee before the sons of men! 10 I
20 Thou shalt hide them in the secret of thy presence from the pride of man: thou shalt keep them secretly in a pavilion from the strife of tongues. 2 I
21 Blessed be the Lord: for he hath shewed me his marvellous kindness in a strong city. 12 I
22 For I said in my haste, I am cut off from before thine eyes: nevertheless thou heardest the voice of my supplications when I cried unto thee. 2 I
23 O love the Lord, all ye his saints: for the Lord preserveth the faithful, and plentifully rewardeth the proud doer. 6 I
24 Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the Lord. 20 I

Genesis 28

10 And Jacob went out from Beersheba, and went toward Haran. 10 I
11 And he lighted upon a certain place, and tarried there all night, because the sun was set; and he took of the stones of that place, and put them for his pillows, and lay down in that place to sleep. 10 I
12 And he dreamed, and behold a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven: and behold the angels of God ascending and descending on it. 12 I
13 And, behold, the Lord stood above it, and said, I am the Lord God of Abraham thy father, and the God of Isaac: the land whereon thou liest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed; 10 I
14 And thy seed shall be as the dust of the earth, and thou shalt spread abroad to the west, and to the east, and to the north, and to the south: and in thee and in thy seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed. 12 I
15 And, behold, I am with thee, and will keep thee in all places whither thou goest, and will bring thee again into this land; for I will not leave thee, until I have done that which I have spoken to thee of. 24 I
16 And Jacob awaked out of his sleep, and he said, Surely the Lord is in this place; and I knew it not. 13 I
17 And he was afraid, and said, How dreadful is this place! this is none other but the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven. 13 I
18 And Jacob rose up early in the morning, and took the stone that he had put for his pillows, and set it up for a pillar, and poured oil upon the top of it. 10 I
19 And he called the name of that place Bethel: but the name of that city was called Luz at the first. 10 I
20 And Jacob vowed a vow, saying, If God will be with me, and will keep me in this way that I go, and will give me bread to eat, and raiment to put on, 10 I
21 So that I come again to my father’s house in peace; then shall the Lord be my God: 10 I
22 And this stone, which I have set for a pillar, shall be God’s house: and of all that thou shalt give me I will surely give the tenth unto thee. 14 I

2 Chronicles 5

1 Thus all the work that Solomon made for the house of the Lord was finished: and Solomon brought in all the things that David his father had dedicated; and the silver, and the gold, and all the instruments, put he among the treasures of the house of God.
2 Then Solomon assembled the elders of Israel, and all the heads of the tribes, the chief of the fathers of the children of Israel, unto Jerusalem, to bring up the ark of the covenant of the Lord out of the city of David, which is Zion.
3 Wherefore all the men of Israel assembled themselves unto the king in the feast which was in the seventh month.
4 And all the elders of Israel came; and the Levites took up the ark.
5 And they brought up the ark, and the tabernacle of the congregation, and all the holy vessels that were in the tabernacle, these did the priests and the Levites bring up.
6 Also king Solomon, and all the congregation of Israel that were assembled unto him before the ark, sacrificed sheep and oxen, which could not be told nor numbered for multitude. 2 I
7 And the priests brought in the ark of the covenant of the Lord unto his place, to the oracle of the house, into the most holy place, even under the wings of the cherubims: 2 I
8 For the cherubims spread forth their wings over the place of the ark, and the cherubims covered the ark and the staves thereof above.
9 And they drew out the staves of the ark, that the ends of the staves were seen from the ark before the oracle; but they were not seen without. And there it is unto this day.
10 There was nothing in the ark save the two tables which Moses put therein at Horeb, when the Lord made a covenant with the children of Israel, when they came out of Egypt. 2 I
11 And it came to pass, when the priests were come out of the holy place: (for all the priests that were present were sanctified, and did not then wait by course:
12 Also the Levites which were the singers, all of them of Asaph, of Heman, of Jeduthun, with their sons and their brethren, being arrayed in white linen, having cymbals and psalteries and harps, stood at the east end of the altar, and with them an hundred and twenty priests sounding with trumpets:)
13 It came even to pass, as the trumpeters and singers were as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the Lord; and when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and instruments of musick, and praised the Lord, saying, For he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever: that then the house was filled with a cloud, even the house of the Lord; 2 I
14 So that the priests could not stand to minister by reason of the cloud: for the glory of the Lord had filled the house of God. 4 I

Luke 22

1 Now the feast of unleavened bread drew nigh, which is called the Passover.
2 And the chief priests and scribes sought how they might kill him; for they feared the people.
3 Then entered Satan into Judas surnamed Iscariot, being of the number of the twelve.
4 And he went his way, and communed with the chief priests and captains, how he might betray him unto them.
5 And they were glad, and covenanted to give him money.
6 And he promised, and sought opportunity to betray him unto them in the absence of the multitude.
7 Then came the day of unleavened bread, when the passover must be killed.
8 And he sent Peter and John, saying, Go and prepare us the passover, that we may eat.
9 And they said unto him, Where wilt thou that we prepare?
10 And he said unto them, Behold, when ye are entered into the city, there shall a man meet you, bearing a pitcher of water; follow him into the house where he entereth in.
11 And ye shall say unto the goodman of the house, The Master saith unto thee, Where is the guestchamber, where I shall eat the passover with my disciples?
12 And he shall shew you a large upper room furnished: there make ready.
13 And they went, and found as he had said unto them: and they made ready the passover.
14 And when the hour was come, he sat down, and the twelve apostles with him. 2 I
15 And he said unto them, With desire I have desired to eat this passover with you before I suffer: 4 I
16 For I say unto you, I will not any more eat thereof, until it be fulfilled in the kingdom of God. 8 I
17 And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, Take this, and divide it among yourselves: 5 I
18 For I say unto you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God shall come.
19 And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me. 5 I
20 Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you. 5 I
21 But, behold, the hand of him that betrayeth me is with me on the table. 2 I
22 And truly the Son of man goeth, as it was determined: but woe unto that man by whom he is betrayed!
23 And they began to enquire among themselves, which of them it was that should do this thing.
24 And there was also a strife among them, which of them should be accounted the greatest.
25 And he said unto them, The kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and they that exercise authority upon them are called benefactors.
26 But ye shall not be so: but he that is greatest among you, let him be as the younger; and he that is chief, as he that doth serve.
27 For whether is greater, he that sitteth at meat, or he that serveth? is not he that sitteth at meat? but I am among you as he that serveth. 5 I
28 Ye are they which have continued with me in my temptations. 5 I
29 And I appoint unto you a kingdom, as my Father hath appointed unto me; 2 I
30 That ye may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom, and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel. 7 I
31 And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: 11 I
32 But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren. 15 I
33 And he said unto him, Lord, I am ready to go with thee, both into prison, and to death. 2 I
34 And he said, I tell thee, Peter, the cock shall not crow this day, before that thou shalt thrice deny that thou knowest me. 4 I
35 And he said unto them, When I sent you without purse, and scrip, and shoes, lacked ye any thing? And they said, Nothing.
36 Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.
37 For I say unto you, that this that is written must yet be accomplished in me, And he was reckoned among the transgressors: for the things concerning me have an end.
38 And they said, Lord, behold, here are two swords. And he said unto them, It is enough.
39 And he came out, and went, as he was wont, to the mount of Olives; and his disciples also followed him. 2 I
40 And when he was at the place, he said unto them, Pray that ye enter not into temptation. 5 I
41 And he was withdrawn from them about a stone’s cast, and kneeled down, and prayed, 5 I
42 Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done. 9 I
43 And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him. 2 I
44 And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground. 9 I
45 And when he rose up from prayer, and was come to his disciples, he found them sleeping for sorrow, 9 I
46 And said unto them, Why sleep ye? rise and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. 12 I
