많은 사람들이 모세오경은 너무 건조하고 단조로우며, 단지 고대 이스라엘만을 위한 것이라고 생각한다. 그들은 모세오경이 현대 기독교인에게는 특별한 가치가 없는 책이라고 말한다. 왜 그럴까? 그것은 하나님께서 모세에게 “자기에 관한 것”을 기록하도록 영감을 준 이 책들속에 있는 그리스도의 생애와 교훈을 알지 못하는 까닭이다(눅 24:27). (26.4)

 그러나 우리는 “모세에 의한 복음”을 더 자세히 살피며, 거기에 나타난 하나님의 보좌에 이르는 길을 따라갈 것이다. 그리고 우리는 요한이 설교한 “보라 세상 죄를 지고 가는 하나님의 어린양이로다”(요 1:29)라는 복음을, 모세 또한 똑같이 선포하고 있음을 알게될 것이다. 이것은 예나 지금이나 모든 사람을 위한 영원한 복음이며, 모든 성경의 주제이며, 구원의 복된 소식인 것이다. (27.1)
